Green Apple Bike Trip
In November 2013, fifteen USGBC Students will have the opportunity to cycle from Washington, DC to Philadelphia, PA to spread awareness around the importance of sustainable schools and make a tangible difference in communities along the way. This project, driven and designed by a team of student leaders, will incorporate three hands-on service projects and public awareness initiatives around healthy schools. Students will be challenged both physically and mentally to embody and equip the next generation of sustainability leaders. Participants will remain in Philadelphia November 19th-22nd to share their experience and represent Green Apple as "Green Apple Student Ambassadors" while attending the Greenbuild Conference and Expo 2013
Student participants will have the experience of a lifetime engaging communities, working on sustainable service projects, and advancing their sustainability careers .The trip will ride from November 12-19th with an average of 50-60 miles a day for a total of 5 days and 3 days of service projects. Participants will remain in Philadelphia November 19th-22nd to share their experience and represent Green Apple as "Green Apple Student Ambassadors" while attending the Greenbuild Conference and Expo 2013. USGBC is happy to work with students and their institutions to arrange for earning course credit through involvement with this project. Students will be responsible for bringing their own cycling clothing and gear, if not otherwise provided by USGBC. Gear should include road bike, helmet, eye protection, gloves, inclement weather clothing, and safety gear. Please indicate your ability and willingness to do so.
